For each compound, the corresponding ideal cuboctahedron is derived through a least-square procedure. The virtual energy levels of Ce<small>3+<\/small>&nbsp;in these ideal polyhedrons are then obtained considering both crystal-field splitting and spin\u2013orbit coupling.
