Mater.X.,<\/mark><\/em><\/strong> <strong>2019, 1.<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2590147819300099\">https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S2590147819300099<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ars.els-cdn.com\/content\/image\/1-s2.0-S2590147819300099-gr1.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p id=\"abspara0010\"><em>\u03b2<\/em>-Ca<sub>3<\/sub>(PO<sub>4<\/sub>)<sub>2<\/sub>-type&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/physics-and-astronomy\/phosphors\">phosphors<\/a>&nbsp;have received much attention due to their ability for heterovalent substitution of Ca<sup>2+<\/sup>&nbsp;by different cations to form the new phases, and their abundant crystallographic sites for the doped activator, such as Eu<sup>2+<\/sup>, to tune the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/physics-and-astronomy\/photoluminescence\">photoluminescence<\/a>. Thus, these phosphors have great potential on the applications in white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) for their tunable emission. Accordingly, there is increasing interest in the discovery of new&nbsp;<em>\u03b2<\/em>-Ca<sub>3<\/sub>(PO<sub>4<\/sub>)<sub>2<\/sub>-type phosphors for WLEDs and the deep understanding on the mechanisms responsible for occupation by Eu<sup>2+<\/sup>&nbsp;ions of particular sites in the host lattice, so that the modulation of emission color and intensity can be controlled. In this review, we summarized the structural construction of&nbsp;<em>\u03b2<\/em>-Ca<sub>3<\/sub>(PO<sub>4<\/sub>)<sub>2<\/sub>-type compounds based on such a mineral-inspired prototype evolution perspective. Then we reviewed the recent research on the luminescence properties and sites occupancy of Eu<sup>2+<\/sup>&nbsp;ions in different&nbsp;<em>\u03b2<\/em>-Ca<sub>3<\/sub>(PO<sub>4<\/sub>)<sub>2<\/sub>-type phosphors. Finally, combining with the current advances, we proposed the research prospects and future work of&nbsp;<em>\u03b2<\/em>-Ca<sub>3<\/sub>(PO<sub>4<\/sub>)<sub>2<\/sub>-type phosphors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"issue-navigation\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Opt.
